Newry Alternative Fashion Week 2017 & EQUAL Newry Fashion Week 2018

Newry City was host to their first alternative fashion show held in the stunning Millers Suite at Canal Court Hotel & Spa on Halloween 2017. After a year of eventing the alternative fashion week has been spread out over the country and abroad, with 5 shows in total, three launching the week of creative designs in November & December of 2016 in major venues across Belfast followed by the historical sold out debut Alternative show in the heart of London September 2017 at Piccadilly Circus and finally, the last of the years alternative shows in Newry on Halloween night proved a successful year of eventing in all.

With a large influx of London designers, models and actors travelling over to attend and participate in the Newry event the atmosphere was blissful. To have had local make up artists and models mix and mingle with London celebrities was a proud moment for the organisers and added heightened elation for the audience and everyone locally involved.

The show opened with a captivating performance from Irish singer and harpist Brona McVittie who performed hypnotic and enchanting original songs on her large harp then followed by an appearance from rising street magician star JSPADES the music and magic proved an intoxicating and mesmerising starter for the evening of creative and out of the box alternative fashion that followed. Local Belfast designer Titanic Denim, Amsterdam Designer LesTere, British Actor George Newton who made several appearances on the runway, singer and TV performer Amrick Channa finished the night off with a euphoric rendition of bumper dance songs pulling the crowds up onto the runway to dance with the models putting a smile on everyone’s face before they made their way home.
